Summary:I am a Cambridge-based Consultant Breast & Endocrine Surgeon and Professor of Cancer Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University. My main clinical interests relate to the delivery of high quality multidisciplinary patient care based on guidelines and evidence-based protocols. I now act as an expert witness in clinical negligence cases especially delay in diagnosis of breast cancer.
As an endocrine surgeon I perform parathyroid and thyroid surgery and have established a tertiary referral base for the surrounding area. I have pioneered day-case and focused (minimally invasive) parathyroidectomy in the UK and have published widely on this subject.
My main research interests are prediction of outcome and treatment benefit and variation in breast cancer survival. I recently led a team of scientists to produce a new online model (Predict) that estimates survival and treatment benefit following surgery for invasive breast cancer (www.predict.nhs.uk).
